Example #1
Using Images part A:
The first image is March 2001, and the second image is Sept. 2000. These images use bands 542 for red green blue, respectively. Band 2, blue, indicates much sediment in water. At the lightning bolt indicator, the small river in March has less sediment than and September. Often this seasonal pattern is reversed in rivers. However, notice also the greater amount of magenta color in September. Magenta color occurs when there is high reflectance in both red, band 5, which is often used to indicate high moisture content, and blue, band 2, which has high reflectance in soil covered surfaces. Therefore, the high river sediment content may be due to recent rainfall. Data from the weather underground site,
http://www.wunderground.com/ , shows that it had been raining, overcast and foggy for the previously 6 days. Note that the Ohio river has consistently high sediment. Vegetation is colored green. There is less vegetation, brown, in September than in March, green. However, golf courses will be well watered in both seasons, light green.
